Dr Patrick (Paddy) Hosie is a consultant General Paediatrician with a focus on comprehensive and collaborative paediatric care, from newborns to adolescents. He enjoys helping families navigate their child’s health journey, and has particular interests in neonatal health, asthma, gastrointestinal and allergic conditions, ADHD and neurodevelopmental issues.
Paddy has over 15 years’ experience working and training in medicine. He completed his medical degrees at The University of New South Wales, graduating with distinction. He then undertook specialist training through Sydney Children’s Hospital, before completing a fellowship at St George Hospital in the outpatient care of children with complex and chronic health conditions. Paddy maintains strong professional connections in each of the paediatric units in South Eastern Sydney. He is currently a VMO to Port Macquarie Base Hospital, and will be starting as a VMO at Sutherland Hospital in June.
His subspecialty experience includes paediatric neurology, gastroenterology, allergy, eating disorders and developmental medicine. He has also worked extensively across both tertiary and metropolitan hospitals in paediatric emergency, neonatal ICU and retrieval medicine (caring for the sickest children and babies in the state).
Paddy is a passionate educator, previously holding a conjoint teaching appointment at The University of New South Wales. He has coordinated junior doctor paediatric education and has published research in childhood neurology and paediatric respiratory medicine.
Paddy resides locally in the Shire with his growing family. Outside of medicine, he is an avid surfer and keen golfer, embracing the coastal lifestyle.
